Tea in Colombia includes a modest but expanding mix of black tea, green tea, herbal infusions, iced tea, and ready-to-drink products, shaped by urban demand and the country’s strong coffee culture. In major cities such as Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali, tea is most visible through supermarkets, cafés, hotels, and specialty retailers offering both affordable tea bags and premium imported loose-leaf varieties. In smaller cities and rural areas, tea consumption is more commonly centered on home use, with herbal infusions often more familiar than traditional tea derived from Camellia sinensis. The tea market is influenced by wellness trends, tourism, and growing consumer interest in alternatives to coffee. Compared with dominant beverages like coffee, fruit juices, and soft drinks, tea occupies a secondary but increasingly visible role, supported by convenience, pricing, and expanding product variety. Bottled teas and functional blends have also increased accessibility in mainstream retail. As a result, tea in Colombia reflects a developing market shaped by global influence and local beverage habits.
