Tea in Uganda includes black tea as the dominant product, along with herbal infusions and a growing presence of packaged and specialty teas, shaped by domestic production and expanding retail markets. In cities such as Kampala and Entebbe, tea is widely available through supermarkets, cafés, hotels, and street vendors, often served with milk and sugar. In rural areas, tea is commonly consumed at home, supported by local cultivation in western and central regions that ensures steady supply. The tea market is influenced by agricultural production, export activity, and domestic consumption patterns, which help position tea as both an economic product and a daily beverage. Compared with coffee and soft drinks, tea occupies a strong and widely accessible role, particularly in household routines. Product variety is gradually expanding as packaged and branded teas become more visible. As a result, tea in Uganda reflects a dual role as both a major agricultural output and a staple consumer beverage.
