Vanuatu Tea

Tea in Vanuatu includes a limited mix of black tea, herbal infusions, and imported packaged tea, shaped by supply chains, tourism, and local consumption patterns. In urban areas such as Port Vila and Luganville, tea is available through hotels, restaurants, and supermarkets, typically as basic tea bags or simple hot beverages served to visitors and residents alike. In rural communities, tea consumption is more sporadic and primarily home-based, depending on availability and access to imported goods. The tea market is influenced by shipping logistics, affordability, and the dominance of other traditional beverages. Compared with local drinks such as kava and fresh coconut-based beverages, tea occupies a secondary and largely imported role. Visibility is concentrated in hospitality settings and urban retail rather than widespread daily use. As a result, tea in Vanuatu reflects a small, import-dependent market where availability and external influences shape its presence.
